Refund policy

Powersports parts fit an enormous range of machines, and sometimes the right part on paper isn't the right part in the garage. If something isn't going to work for you, here's how we make it right — and the rules that keep prices fair for every rider who buys from us, online or at the counter.

The Short Version

  • 30 days from delivery to start a return.
  • Get a return authorization (RA) first. Packages sent without one are refused.
  • Items must be new, uninstalled, and in their original packaging.
  • Changed your mind or ordered the wrong part: 15% restocking fee, you pay return shipping.
  • Our mistake, a defect, or damage in shipping: no fee, we pay return shipping.
  • Some items are final sale — see the list below before you order.

Starting a Return

Call (530) 748-3317 or email placervillepowersports@gmail.com with your order number, the item, and the reason. We'll issue an RA number and the address to send it to.

  • Ship it to the address on your RA. Many of our parts ship straight from a distributor's warehouse, and returns often go back to that warehouse — not to our shop. A return sent to the wrong address can't be credited.
  • Write the RA number on the outside of the shipping box, never on the product's own packaging.
  • Use a trackable service. Until the return reaches us, it's your package.
  • An RA is good for 14 days. After that, ask us for a new one.

Condition

Returns must be in resalable, as-new condition: unused, uninstalled, free of scratches, grease, and mounting marks, with all original packaging, hardware, instructions, and tags. A part that's been bolted on and taken back off is an installed part, even if it was never ridden. The manufacturer's box is part of the product — please don't ship a bare part in a mailer, tape over the retail box, or write on it. Returns that arrive used, incomplete, or damaged may be refused or refunded only in part; we'll contact you before deciding.

Restocking Fee & What's Refunded

Returns for any reason other than our error, a defect, or shipping damage carry a 15% restocking fee. That includes ordering the wrong size or the wrong part for your machine. In those cases, original shipping, any drop-ship handling fee, and return shipping are not refunded. We'll always tell you the exact refund amount before you send anything back.

Wrong Part for Your Machine

  • You picked the wrong part: it's a normal return — 15% restocking fee, you pay return shipping.
  • Our listing was wrong: if our site said the part fits your year, make, and model and the manufacturer's own fitment data says otherwise, that's our mistake — no fee, and we pay return shipping.
  • Not sure it fits? Call us before ordering or installing. Once a part is installed it can't be returned.

Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Item

Open your order when it arrives. If anything is damaged in shipping, missing, or not what you ordered, tell us within 5 business days of delivery with photos of the item and the box, and keep all the packaging — the carrier and our distributors need it for the claim. We'll replace it or refund it in full, with no restocking fee and no shipping cost to you.

A new part that's defective out of the box is handled the same way within 30 days. A part that fails after installation is a warranty claim with the manufacturer (see Warranty below) — call us and we'll help you open it.

Final Sale — Can't Be Returned

  • OEM (factory) parts and anything special-ordered for you.
  • Closeout, clearance, and discontinued items.
  • Opened electrical and ignition parts — ECUs, CDIs, coils, stators, regulators, switches, wiring, gauges. Defective units go through the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Fluids, chemicals, aerosols, and batteries — oils, coolants, sealants, anything shipped as hazmat.
  • Mounted or used tires. Unmounted, unused tires can be returned under the normal rules; oversize freight isn't refunded.
  • Helmets and protective gear that have been worn, had stickers applied or tags removed, or come back without the original bag and box. Safety gear can't be resold once used.
  • Cut, drilled, painted, or modified parts, including cut-to-length cable, hose, and chain.
  • Software, digital products, and gift cards.

Refused or Undeliverable Packages

If you refuse a delivery or a package comes back because of an address problem, we'll refund the item cost less the original shipping, any handling fee, the return freight, and any fee the distributor charges us for the refused shipment. Refusing a package is not a substitute for asking for an RA.

Warranty

Parts and gear carry the manufacturer's warranty, not a separate store warranty. Terms vary by brand. Wear items — brake pads, tires, chains, sprockets, filters, clutch plates — are not covered, and neither is damage from racing, improper installation, or use outside the manufacturer's stated application. We'll help you file the claim; the manufacturer decides it.

Refunds

Once your return arrives and passes inspection, we refund your original payment method within 3–5 business days. Your bank may take another 3–10 business days to show it. We'll email you when the refund goes out. Refunds go only to the original payment method.

Exchanges

The fastest way to swap a part is to place a new order for the one you need and return the original. That way the right part is on its way right away instead of waiting on a return to clear.

Order Cancellation

Reach us before an order ships and we'll cancel it at no charge. Once it's with the carrier or the distributor has shipped it, it's a return.

Before You Dispute a Charge

Please call or email us first — we can almost always fix a problem faster than a card dispute can. If a charge is disputed, we'll share the order, tracking, and delivery confirmation with your card issuer. Returns that arrive used, swapped for a different part, or empty will be refused and reported.
